Pianist Sohee Hwang was born in Daegu, South Korea where she began her musical studies at the age of six. Ms. Hwang began performing publicly shortly thereafter, in recitals and subsequently as an active chamber musician throughout South Korea, The United States of America and Europe.
Ms. Hwang received first prize awards in Zaslavsky-Koch competition, 3rd pize in The Five Towns Young Musician Competition and Grand prize and House of Representative Grace Meng Award in Manhattan International Music Competition, and performed with the MSM Symphony orchestra under the baton of George Manahan.
Her other credits include performances at The Piano summer International Festival/Institute at New Paltz, The International Academy of Music (Italy), and the International Keyboard Institute (New York).
Ms. Hwang Studied at Seoul National University from 2008-2010, and from 2010, she continued her education at Manhattan School of Music as a student of Phillip Kawin. She received her Bachelor, Master of Music degrees and Professional Studies certificate is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Music where she is a scholarship recipient.
